Rosie Paola Greco, West Heath student and Trustee
15th October 1991 - 23rd January 2025
It is with profound sadness that I am writing to share the heartbreaking news that one of our brightest stars, our dearest Rosie, former student and former Trustee, passed away last Thursday. So many of you will remember the pure joy that was Rosie. She was such a breath of fresh air and pure loveliness. She had an incredible spirit and such a zest for life, in all its complexity. Rosie never shied away from difficult conversations and her absolute honesty, was one of her most endearing traits.
Rosie was much loved and cherished by staff and students alike. She exuded kindness to all and she had that unique quality that made you feel so special, when she was around. Her time in school and boarding was a happy one and Rosie’s words describing that time in her life, are inscribed on the glass in our Courtyard Room, forever reminding us the peace and safety that West Heath gave her for that period in her life. Rosie was simply extraordinary, gifted and so talented. Her essays were a work of art and she loved learning.
Rosie had a special place in her heart for West Heath and after she graduated, she was appointed a West Heath Trustee on the 7th December 2018. Rosie served on the Board until the 15th July 2022. She was a passionate advocate for all our students and staff, having had a deep insight into the journey that our young people have been on. The holistic needs of our students came first for Rosie and the Trustee Board and I always valued her advice which was given with the utmost integrity and love.
Rosie, for me, was the kind of person that has left the world a better place for having been in it. Her struggles were those that we all experience as part of the human existence. I will never forget her amazing mind, her dignity, her joy, her mischief, and her ability to walk for endless miles around our site and never seeming to tire. Rosie was such a thinker, a scholar and so eloquent and articulate. We will not know another, quite like her. Her radiant smile is what I shall miss the most.
I know that you will join me in offering our heartfelt condolences to Rosie’s family and to her friends, many of whom are our former students. Rosie has slipped away far too soon, but she leaves behind endless memories of her indomitable spirit, her gentleness, her grace, her unique view of the world, and that joyous, exuberant smile, and her laughter which was never far away.
Everything that Rosie stood for, is woven into the very fabric of our school and it will be her enduring legacy.
And did you get what
You wanted from this life, even so?
I did.
And what did you want?
To call myself beloved, to feel myself
Beloved on the earth.
