"...a range of up to seventeen subjects"
Upper School is an exciting time for all students. It marks a turning point in a student’s life when they discover talents and spend their lessons developing new skills. Students choose four option subjects to compliment their core studies in English, Maths, Science, Life Skills, PE and Self Science. These four courses can be selected from a range of up to seventeen subjects. These range from academic classroom-based subjects like GCSE History and Science, to vocational off-site courses such as BTEC Animal Care or City & Guilds qualifications in construction or mechanics.
Upper School provides our learners with specialist teaching facilities and experienced staff. New facilities in Creative Crafts, Art & Design, Science complement our extensive range of existing resources, including a professional kitchen and a Learning Lodge, mirroring a Forest School type experience. These are just a few of the fantastic learning environments available to our students. In Upper School, we thrive on discovering the talents and passions that lie within all of our students and we strive to create bespoke learning packages for our learners so that they will engage and be inspired.
Our Upper School students succeed at West Heath. They gain qualifications that are essential for academic progression which are relevant to their future aspirations. We are proud of what our students achieve and of their incredible learning journey throughout Upper School. At West Heath we promote independent learning and develop resilience so students are prepared, ready to tackle the challenges and rigour of 6th Form study.
