Juniors

"We endeavour to ensure that all pupils, regardless of their specific needs, make the best possible progress in our school"

West Heath Juniors welcomes students from the age of 10 who are in either year 5 or 6. We provide a beautiful, small and nurturing schoolhouse within the extensive grounds of our Secondary provision.

This has many advantages for our young learners.

·        A nurturing safe base with consistent staff members who are qualified, experienced and passionate about teaching and building the confidence and resilience of our youngest learners

·        Use of all the wonderful facilities that are available to the whole school, such as the swimming pool, forest school, therapy suites, music facilities and offsite provisions and trips

·        A bespoke KS2 garden with circuit style climbing frame to encourage gross motor skills and enjoyment, a trampoline and a polytunnel for growing vegetables and plants

·        Therapy pets, fish, guinea pigs and Keno, Rollo and Biscuit the therapy dogs who visit weekly

·        Access to play therapist, SaLT therapist, Occupational therapist and counselors for those who need this support. This is part of our core offer and comes at no extra expense

·        A carefully crafted timetable that follows predictable routines and mixes core subjects and enriching activities. This helps to build the tolerance and stamina of our learners and give all a sense of pride and achievement daily

West Heath Juniors is the perfect way for students to begin their Journey with West Heath. The transition to ‘big school’ starts almost as soon as they set foot through our doors. From a small safe base, and at their own pace, students meet staff from across the school who will become their future teachers and support staff. They also become familiar with the larger school layout little by little with Primary staff to support them while they explore.
